We've installed three new air quality sensors in North Saanich to help monitor local air conditions. The sensors are located at Municipal Hall, the McTavish Fire Hall, and the Wain Road Fire Hall.
These sensors measure particulate matter (PM) in the air, especially PM2.5 -- tiny particles 2.5 micrometers or smaller. Because of their size, PM2.5 particles can enter deep into the lungs and even the bloodstream, posing potential health risks.
By collecting real-time data, these sensors help us better understand and manage air quality in our community.
