Alice has been a resident of North Saanich since 1975 and enjoyed a successful law practice in Sidney for over 26 years.  She was first elected to North Saanich Council in 1993 serving as a Councillor until 1999. To this date she is the first mayor of North Saanich to serve three consecutive terms, unseating the incumbent in her successful mayoralty campaign in 2008, elected by acclamation in 2011 and re-elected in 2014

In addition Alice has more than 30 years of commitment and community service in a volunteer capacity to the residents of North Saanich.  Her positions have included: first chair of the North Saanich Agricultural Advisory Commission, a member of the Environmental Advisory Commission, liaison to the Tree and Hedgerow Committee and Agricultural Task Force, a founding member of the North Saanich Food for the Future Society and co-organizer of the North Saanich Farm Market, a founding member and Chair of the Society for Governance Advocacy in North Saanich, and a member of the North Saanich Community Advisory Committee, which developed community vision for the 2007 Official Community Plan.  She was director and chair of the Peninsula Streams Society and a founding member and chair of the Friends of Dominion Brook Park Society.

Alice strives for balance between the social, cultural, economic and environmental dimensions of North Saanich, making the community a champion on Southern Vancouver Island and in British Columbia.  In 2013 she was honoured to receive the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal for community service, nominated by the Federation of Canadian Municipalities.

During her first term as Mayor, in 2009 the District of North Saanich was the proud recipient of a UBCM Community Excellence Award for Community Partnership, recognizing the cooperative work done in creation of the North Saanich Free Ride Bike Park.  Further, in 2011, the District received a second UBCM Community Excellence Award for innovation and leadership, recognizing the creation and adoption of the North Saanich Whole Community Agricultural Strategy, which has since received acknowledgement on a federal basis.

In earlier years Alice incorporated and was a founding member of the Canadian Association for Williams Syndrome. She is a past elected member for Victoria of the BC Provincial Council, Canadian Bar Association serving six years in that capacity.

Alice is married to Derek Finall and has three adult children:  Andrew, Simon and Sarah.

Councillor Stock

Councillor Stock

In November, 2014, I was re-elected a Councillor for a second term.  As CRD alternate for Mayor Finall, I attend some CRD meetings on her behalf, and am her representative on the Peninsula Water and Wastewater Commissions.

This year, I am Council Liaison to the Peninsula Chamber of Commerce, and am a Commissioner on the Capital Regional Housing Trust fund.

Dedicated to our beautiful community and its residents, I am committed to serving all citizens by providing open, accountable leadership, and being a passionate voice for their interests and concerns.

Early in my career with the government of Canada, I spent ten years working in the NWT and the Yukon, including being an Alderman on the City of Yellowknife Council.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) from Concordia University in Montreal, and am a graduate of Queens University Executive Public Administration Program.  Music plays a large role in my life, and I have been a member of the Peninsula Singers since 2010.

To North Saanich Council, I bring twenty years experience as a senior executive in government of Canada. I am an outspoken supporter of, and advocate for local government which communicates frequently with citizens, sound financial management, agricultural sustainability, and environmental protection of all our resources.

“I am open to communicating fully with all residents of North Saanich”. Please contact me at 250-655-3437 or by e-mail.

In North Saanich, Jack has served on the Environmental Advisory Commission and the Heritage Advisory Commission, St. John’s United Church Council, and has worked part-time for Sidney Senior Care.  In 2014 he was elected to North Saanich Council.
