Correction: An earlier version of this post identified the wrong road closure limits. The closure is between Laurel Road and Tatlow Road. The detour route remains unchanged via Birch Road, Chalet Road, and Tatlow Road. We apologize for the confusion and appreciate everyone’s patience.
As part of the Chalet Creek Culvert Emergency Repair Project, a temporary closure of West Saanich Road, between Laurel Road and Tatlow Road, will be required to facilitate infrastructure improvements.
Closure Period
- July 15 to September 30, 2026 (approximately 10 weeks)
Traffic Impacts
- Advance warning signs will be installed at the intersection of Wain Road and West Saanich Road for northbound traffic.
- During the closure, a fully signed detour route will direct motorists via Birch Road, Chalet Road, and Tatlow Road.
Project Update
Early construction activities will include the removal of five trees within the municipal right-of-way. Tree removal is necessary to safely and efficiently complete the excavation work required for the culvert replacement.
