The Capital Regional District (CRD) will begin emergency repairs on Thursday, September 24 to a major water transmission main that supplies the Saanich Peninsula.
While repairs are underway, North Saanich residents and businesses are asked to reduce non-essential water use, including activities such as outdoor watering and car washing, until the repair is complete.
During the repair, the Saanich Peninsula will receive water through alternate transmission infrastructure. This alternate supply route operates at a lower pressure and has less capacity than the primary transmission main. While most residents are expected to continue receiving normal water service, some areas may experience reduced water pressure. Water quality is not expected to be affected.
Reducing non-essential water use will help maintain water supply and pressure throughout the system for essential household, business, and emergency needs.
CRD crews will work around the clock, including evenings and through the weekend, with repairs expected to be completed by Monday, September 28.
