Jubilee Park Playground first opened in 2016 and has been expanded over several phases to create a more inclusive, accessible and engaging recreational space for residents of all ages. In 2022, Council approved $250,000 for the final phase of playground upgrades, with the community invited to provide input on proposed equipment and features. Of 187 survey participants, 63% selected the preferred Option 2 design.
Construction of the final phase took place in 2023. The project included new inclusive and accessible playground equipment, all-ages recreational features and a rubberized playground surface. Council provided an additional $120,000 from the Growing Communities Fund for the rubber surfacing, while the site preparation contract was awarded to Five Star Paving Co. Ltd. for approximately $137,000. Swing Time Distributors Ltd. supplied and installed the playground equipment.
The upgrades were completed in fall 2023, with a community opening celebration held on October 12, 2023. Completion of Phase 3 marked the final phase of the Jubilee Park Master Plan development, resulting in a more accessible and inclusive park for children, families and other community users.
