The North Saanich Heritage Advisory Commission invites you to participate in the recognition, preservation and education of the heritage and culture of North Saanich.
What can I do?

Help us protect the unique heritage of North Saanich by identifying those buildings, sites, and landscape features that are part of our history; |

• |
Volunteer in assisting to build a historical collection to educate and celebrate our heritage; |
|
• |
Celebrate Heritage Week each February; |
|
• |
Join us at our regular meetings in Municipal Hall every first Wednesday of each month at 10:00 a.m. Everyone is welcome! |
 What is considered heritage?
Anything that, by its character, interest, age or value contributes to and enhances knowledge of our community’s past, ranging from buildings, sites, farms, roads and parks, to trees, animals, marine and plant life, even natural resources. That could include:

A person or group who significantly contributed to the culture and social development of the municipality, province or nation; |

• |
A place or site identified with a historical event; |
|
• |
A building outstanding for architectural design, detail, materials or craftsmanship; |
|
• |
A significant heritage grouping, vista, streetscape, cluster or specific feature of the landscape or neighbourhood; |
|
• |
Trees, animals and plants indigenous or special to North Saanich. |
