Animal Control


As of
January 1, 2004 the Capital Regional District has provided animal control services to North Saanich. All requests for animal control services including complaints or inquiries are to be referred to CRD ANIMAL CONTROL AT 478-0624. Following is a summary of what do to when you require animal control services:


DOMESTIC ANIMALS:

Dogs biting or attacking people
Dogs chasing, attacking or killing livestock
Dogs killing other dogs or cats
Dogs or Cats sick or injured
Dogs running in packs (2 or more dogs)
Other incidents involving a true and immediate public safety concern

Call CRD at 478-0624 (474-5712 after hours)


DEER OR OTHER WILDLIFE:

Seriously injured, usually hit by vehicle (exact location must be given) call SPCA at 388-7722
Dead wildlife call North Saanich Public Works at 655-5460
Bear/cougar sightings, other wildlife nuisances or problems call a B.C. Conservation Officer at
1-800-663-9453


MARINE MAMMALS:

Any problems involving marine mammals Call Fisheries & Oceans at 363-3252


STRAY ANIMALS:

Dogs and cats found after hours will not be picked up. The finder is asked to keep the animal
overnight (CRD will pick up in the morning). If you find a stray dog wearing a current license
during regular office hours, call the Municipal Hall at 656-0781.


IMPOUNDED ANIMALS:

These animals can be picked up at the CRD Animal Shelter located at 5401 Pat Bay Highway
(just north of the weigh station) and is open Monday to Saturday
9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
