Ardmore

Below is a synopsis of what the Ardmore neighbourhood offers North Saanich residents and what the Parks Commission recommendations for improvements are. For detailed findings and recommendations please review the full 2010 Ardmore Neighbourhood Inventory Report. Please note that although the narratives are complete in the report, some of the tables and maps may not be at this time. This deficiency is being remedied.

Neighbourhood Summary

Heavily treed, with few through roads, the Ardmore Neighbourhood has a quiet secluded atmosphere. Walking trails, 2.6 km total length, on unopened road allowances and 8 developed beach accesses, some suitable for swimming and kayaking, make for enjoyable local rambling with good birdwatching opportunities. Coles Bay Regional Park is a popular destination for Peninsula residents and is the only park in the Ardmore Neighbourhood. There are no playgrounds or sports fields but two privately operated golf courses are accessible to Ardmore residents.

Recommendations Summary

Ardmore Neighbourhood
A tract of land has been willed to the District for park purposes but is not available until 2023. The most immediate opportunities for improvements to local recreational amenities would be to:
  •  Extend the network of trails on some of the remaining undisturbed road allowances;
Develop some of the unopened beach accesses as viewpoints or full-on accesses.
