The District produces various map types that are used by staff members on a daily basis. Several of these maps are also useful to the general public. Maps in both hardcopy and digital format can be purchased at the Municipal Hall. Some of the District's maps can also be viewed in the Online Maps section of this website.

The following information describes the various types (and costs) of maps and mapping data that are available to the general public.

Hardcopy Map Reproductions:

Hardcopy maps are produced in several size formats and scales. The most popular format is a set of 8 maps printed on 11" x 17" paper at a scale of 1:10,000. Maps of the District are also available in a single sheet (30" x 40") format at a scale of 1:10,000. Upon request, the District also performs custom printing of specific areas. Aerial photography (orthophoto) images and one metre contour information are also available within custom prints. At this time, the following hardcopy maps are available at the Municipal Hall.

Aerial Photo:

An aerial photograph of the District is available to the public at a cost of $30.00 per copy. This photograph was compiled from digital photography that was acquired in May of 2003 and is printed at a scale of 1:10,000 on a sheet that measures 29" x 43". Digital Mapping Data:

Digital mapping data is provided by the District in AutoDesk's DWG format. Aerial photography (orthophoto) imagery is available in (compressed) ECW format. In order to purchase digital data, the purchaser must complete and sign the District's "Conditions For Supply Of Digital Information" form which can be reviewed on the Printable Forms page of this website. At this time, the following digital information is available from the District.

AutoDesk Mapping Data		$25.00 processing fee plus $500.00 per MB.
Orthophoto Image	100 cm.	This image with a 100 cm. pixel size covers the entire District of North Saanich and the Town of Sidney (7,200 m. x 10,400 m.). Cost = $800.00
Orthophoto Image	10 cm.	Due to the District's purchase agreement with McElhanney Consulting Services Ltd, these high resolution 10 cm. images must be obtained directly from McElhanney.
