| Mapping and GIS |
The Mapping and GIS section of the North Saanich Information Technology Department is responsible for maintaining the District's digital mapping information. This mapping and property based information is distributed to staff members using the District's Geographic Information System (GIS). The GIS provides District staff with an efficient way to access the following types of mapping and property based information:

Property boundaries, legal description, address, road, trail, beach
access and park location information |

Zoning and Agricultural Land Reserve (ALR) information |

• |
Digital aerial photography that can be used in conjunction with other mapping
information. Digital aerial photography has been obtained in 1995, 2000, 2003, 2005, 2007 and 2009. |

One metre contour information for planning purposes |

• |
Location data related to municipal utility services (this data is currently being
compiled by the Infrastructure Services department) |
The District's GIS is linked to the District's financial system which provides staff members with access to various property related and financial information. Staff members also have the ability to print or copy various map types for inclusion in documents or reports.
A basic version of the District's GIS (North Saanich Map) can be accessed by the public from the District website.
