Purchasing


Although price is important, other elements such of value, including quality, experience, environmental impact, ability to deliver at required times, service and customer relations are considered when making a purchase. Please review the 
District of North Saanich Purchasing Policy for details.

Tenders and requests for proposals (RFP’s) are issued by the respective department(s), such as:


Finance Services Contact:  Patricia Roberts, Director, Financial Services
Engineering Department Contact:

Brian Robinson, Works Superintendent
Development Services Contact: Mark Brodrick, Director Planning & Community Services

All purchasing is authorized through the adoption of the Financial Plan except when authorized under the Emergency Purchasing Section of the District of North Saanich’s Purchasing Policy.

 

Purchases over $10,000 are undertaken by way of written tenders unless otherwise approved by Council.  Tenders are advertised in the local newspapers.  In the case of sealed tenders, the bids shall be opened in public by a representative of the Department which initiated the tender, and the Treasurer or his/her designate.

 

The District is a member of the Greater Victoria Joint Purchasing Group and where it is deemed advantageous for the District, participation in “Group Purchasing” shall be pursued.
