After many dedicated hours of preparation from volunteer firefighters and staff the upgraded fire hall was ready for occupancy June 5, 2013. Three days later on June 8, a successful open house was held with over 200 residents in attendance.
Guests included Federal MP Elizabeth May, newly elected provincial representative, Gary Holman, Fire Commissioner Rebecca Denlinger, RCMP Honour Guard Staff Sgt. Dennis O’Gorman, and Sgt. Wayne Conley, Acting Mayor Elsie McMurphy, Councillors McBride, Mearns, Stock, and CAO Rob Buchan.
Volunteers are very happy with the new space and training tower that has been utilized weekly and staff are pleased with the new office space and reception area.
The project has been nominated for a Victoria Real Estate Board Commercial Building Award.
