The origin of the North Saanich Fire Department is a very colourful bit of History of the early relationship between North Saanich and Sidney. The late Jim Cumming, a former Reeve (Mayor) of North Saanich wrote the article the Origin of the North Saanich Fire Department in 1991 summarizing this dispute. The enclosed cartoons in the article were added and reproduced with the permission of Nelson Dewey.
