The Fire Department records the incidents (in categories) it responds to and compares them to previous years. These are summarized in a Monthly Activity Report which shows the current month compared to the same month in the previous year, and then shows the current year to date compared to the previous year to date totals. The second part of the report shows the number of inspections completed and permits issued by the Fire Department career personnel.
It is surprising how consistent the past years have been. The number of calls, the areas in the District, and night calls versus daytime calls have all remained relatively constant. Our calls have averaged 450 – 500 per year, the number of calls in each neighbourhood remains fairly constant and are directly related to the population in the area and the calls are about evenly split between night and day. All this information is tracked on a daily basis and is available for viewing at the Fire Hall if requested.
