Voting by Mail


You may be eligible to register and vote in the November 19, 2011 North Saanich Local Government Election by mail.

Eligibility

The only electors who may vote by mail ballot are:

(a) Persons who have a physical disability, illness or injury that affects your ability to vote at another voting opportunity, and
(b) Persons who expect to be absent from the District of North Saanich on general voting day and at the times of all advance voting opportunities.

Application Procedure

If you meet the aforementioned criteria, and wish a mail ballot, a ballot package may be requested by an elector who is registered and who in person, by mail, by fax or by e-mail, presents the Chief Election Officer or his designate a written request by giving their name and address and the address to which the mail ballot is to be forwarded.

Requests may be:

•  made in person or mailed to the District of North Saanich, 1620 Mills Road, North Saanich, BC V8L 5S9;
faxed at (250) 656-3155; or
e-mailed to the District of North Saanich.

Requests will be received by the District only until Monday, November 7, 2011.

The Chief Election Officer may on or about Monday, October 31, 2011, deliver mail ballot packages by hand to electors who request a mail ballot package in person, or may deliver mail ballot packages to electors by mail, for those electors who request the ballot package by mail, fax, or e-mail.

In order to be counted for the election, a mail ballot must be received by the Chief Election Officer before 8:00 p.m., Saturday, November 19, 2011 and it is the obligation of the person applying to vote by mail ballot to ensure that the mail ballot is received by the Chief Election Office within this time limit.
