The following question was placed on the ballot during the 2014 local government election:
"Are you in favour of a study, provincially funded, to investigate the feasibility, costs and implications of amalgamating the three municipalities on the Saanich Peninsula: Sidney, Central Saanich and North Saanich?"
This question was answered in the affirmative by 62% of the voters in North Saanich. Subsequently to the vote, North Saanich Council passed a resolution on January 19, 2015 expressing its opinion that each municipality be engaged in determining the terms of reference and program for any amalgamation study in the Capital Region. the intention is that our municipalities request funding from the Province so that we may conduct such a study on behalf of our residents. A letter was sent to the Minister in January, 2015.
