Business Licence


Every business in the District of North Saanich is required to have a valid business licence before beginning operation. This requirement applies to home-based businesses, commercial and industrial operations and owners of apartment rental properties. Business licences are also required for companies not located in the District but that do work within North Saanich such as contractors.

Business Licencing is mandated to promote safe and legitimate business premises and operations within the District of North Saanich. Staff provide initial advice for new businesses, process business licence applications within the context of the District's regulatory requirements and maintain an up-to-date database on existing businesses.

Types of Business Licences:

The fee structure in North Saanich is based on the type of business. For certain types of businesses, the rate is further determined by additional criteria such as floor area and number of employees. To determine the correct fee for your business, contact Development and Community Services at 250-655-5470. Office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday excluding statutory holidays. Fees are payable when the business licence is approved and issued. A Building Inspector may visit your place of business.
